Why do they call them Parrot Heads?

We were playing at a venue outside of Cincinnati called King's Island.  By this time people
had already started wearing Hawaiian shirts to our shows.  As we looked out at this
Cincinnati crowd, they were glaringly brilliant to the point where it got our attention
immediately.  I said, “Look at that!”  Then Schmidt says to me, “They look like Dead-
Heads in tropical shirts.  They're like PARROT HEADS!”  He yelled it to me in the middle
of a song, so I immediately took the term and threw it over the microphone.
The people identified themselves with the term from the get-go!         ~Jimmy Buffett
There is a new site out there for
Parrot Heads, it's called Meet the
Phlockers. If you are a Parrot head you
need to get one.  Don't forget to add
us as a friend.

TROY ALLAN
1967-2010

Words just cannot describe the important role Troy played
in the lives of everyone he knew.  He wasn't just an MTM member
- he was a friend.  His enthusiasm and belief in the Academy of
Texas Music and his involvement with the Texas Music Awards
show were so incredible.  Even as he struggled with the rare form
of cancer he quietly suffered from, he kept a smile on his face,
and used every ounce of his energy to comfort other cancer
patients (he would drag his guitar to his chemo sessions to lift
everyone's spirits) and just a few months ago was traveling as
much as he could to spread the word about early screening.  Like
many of you, there is a chunk of our hearts that will forever be
missing, and our organization has lost its biggest supporter.
Troy Allan will always be remembered as that one unique person we
can all be so lucky to have met in our lifetime.
Smooth sailing, Troy.  We'll see you on the other side.

I am a Parrot Head.

I know how and what started it.  I know exactly when and where it started.  But where
will it end?  Right now I am hanging on to this big round ball and I’m not letting go.
I am a member of the Galveston Bay Parrot Head Club (my home chapter), the Central
Texas PHC, and the Lone Star PHC.  I’m also a member of the Margarita Mafia, dedicated
to the birth and growth of our new music genre: Trop-Rock!!!

We are not Parrot Heads because we are Jimmy Buffett fans.

We are Parrot Heads because we love the ocean, and we love to have fun.  We are not
afraid to act silly and foolish, nor are we afraid of love.  We are Parrot Heads because
we like scantily clad members of the opposite sex, and we like playing in the sun with
those members, and singing songs that say all those things.  We are Parrot Heads because
we believe the best things in life are free.  Sharing those things makes them even better.

We believe in the innate goodness in all of us.  We are Parrot Heads because we know
shared joy is increased; and we know shared pain is lessened.  We know that a good friend
has value beyond measure.  We put on flip-flops and take life easy once in a while.

It just so happens that Jimmy Buffett sings about all these things.
So we are not Parrot Heads because we are Jimmy Buffett fans.
